Fissures of Fragility_1James Putzel, PhD, full professor at the International Development Department of the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Director of the LSE Crisis States Centre, visited AIM on 17 June to present his analysis on the looming challenges to peace and development that the incoming administration will face. He argued the case for transformative politics using Meeting the Challenges of Crisis States, a report he co-authored with Jonathan Di-John.More>>






MDM 2016 studies the market as a window to the local community

RAA2016_0The Zuellig School and MDM 2016 held the 6th Annual Rapid Area Assessment Photo Exhibit last May 31. Entitled “The Market as a Window to the Local Community,” the event featured the learning teams’ photo essays and a short presentation of their insights from their field work.

ZSDM organizes civil service well-being study tour for Bhutan officials

Well-Being_4.JPG The Zuellig School organized a two-day study tour for members of Bhutan’s Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) last April 4-5. Focusing on Civil Service Well-Being, the program covered foundational theories and applications of recently-introduced innovations which constitute the RCSC’s Civil Service Well-Being Program, such as the Civil Service Support Desk, Exit Management, and Civil Servants’ Welfare Scheme.

Convergence_1Mr. Paul Ballard, Founding Partner of WAVE (Wei Lai Advisors, Ventures, Enterprises), visited AIM for a Development@Work talk entitled “Capitalizing on Convergence: How Emerging Markets’ Businesses and Governments can Succeed and Manage Risks in Today’s Global Market”. The talk was about the disruptive changes that have occurred in world markets in the past decade, and how the global financial crash in 2008 – 2009 transformed the context for businesses in emerging markets.More>>

AIM, ASEAN Foundation, and DFA PH hold conference on economic empowerment of ASEAN women
DFA ASEAN Women_4.JPGZSDM is working with the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the ASEAN Foundation, and the Japan-ASEAN Solidarity Fund on a research project entitled “Regional Study of the Economic Participation of Women in ASEAN.” As part of this research project, ZSDM conducted a two-day conference last January 28-29. This conference gathered representatives from each ASEAN Member State to get their feedback about the regional study, and to validate the results of the key informant interviews and focus group discussions with select groups.More>>
